Job Summary:  Tree Pruner

Reporting to the COO, the Tree Pruner is responsible for trimming, cutting, and shaping branches, removing deadwood to allow access for the ESL.  The tree pruner must ensure that the trees grow in a healthy, safe, and aesthetically pleasing manner. This role typically requires working outdoors in a variety of weather conditions, using specialised equipment, and adhering to safety protocols.  The position will require travel nationwide.

Responsibilities:

Pruning & Trimming:

Perform routine and corrective pruning to remove dead, diseased, or overgrown branches.

Shape trees for proper growth and appearance, ensuring their structural integrity.

Trim tree limbs that interfere with power lines, lighting, buildings, roads, or other structures.

Selectively remove branches to promote healthy tree growth and increase sunlight penetration.

Safety Compliance:

Follow all safety protocols when working with pruning equipment and in tree climbing.

Utilise personal protective equipment (PPE) including hard hats, gloves, and harnesses.

Ensure proper equipment maintenance to avoid accidents.

Equipment Operation:

Safely operate and maintain pruning tools and machinery such as chainsaws, pole saws, hand pruners, and climbing gear.

Ensure that all tools and equipment are in good working condition before use.

Record Keeping:

Maintain accurate records of tree work performed, including the types of trees, amount of pruning, and any special care or treatments.

Track work schedules, inventory, and any follow-up needed

General Operations:

Complete other duties as assigned as a General Operator, including traffic management.

Required Qualifications:

Certification in arboriculture (such as ISA Certified Arborist)

Certificate in Chainsaw maintenance, cross cutting timer and felling.

Certificate in SLG and Working at Heights

Experience:

Prior experience in tree care, landscaping, or arboriculture is preferred.

Required Skills & Competencies:

Proficiency in operating pruning tools and climbing gear.

Knowledge of tree species and growth habits.

Understanding of tree care safety protocols, including safe use of equipment and safe working practices in various weather conditions.

Ability to identify diseases, pests, and signs of poor health in trees.

Strong interpersonal skills to work with clients and team members

Full clean driving license, C License desirable
