Ray MacSharry Park, established in the 1980s, was built on a site already rich in local soccer history. The park was designed to support football at all levels, from U-17 boys and girls to senior amateur teams for both men and women. As of 2023, the facility serves as the home ground for 37 football teams, providing adults and youth with access to high-quality playing fields.
The park now boasts a cutting-edge 3G Astro pitch, catering to a variety of sports including football, Gaelic football, tag rugby, rugby, athletics, track and field, and softball. It also serves as a key venue for the Sligo-Leitrim District Soccer League.
Recent energy efficiency upgrades have resulted in a 40% reduction in energy costs and halved the park’s carbon footprint. These improvements have also attracted more football clubs, which now use the park for home games, while local charities and fundraisers have increased their use of the facilities.
