PRESS RELEASE: Monday 4th November

Mayo company Electric Skyline raises €25,000 for Cancer Care West through its company Charity Challenge.

Electric Skyline has raised an outstanding amount of money for Cancer Care West through its innovative Relay Charity Challenge. The Staff members from the company started a sports relay from Killary in Co. Galway to Claremorris in Co. Mayo, all in one day. The staff jogged on roads, ran up Croagh Patrick, kayaked, cycled and walked while passing the baton along the way to one another. There was a real sense of comradely between staff and good will from the public as they passed through towns and villages along the way.

Speaking about the event, Sean Corcoran MD of Electric Skyline said “It was a great day for staff to come together to raise vital funds for Cancer Care West. We couldn’t have done it without the support of our suppliers and local businesses in Mayo, a huge thank you to them.”

Orla Cunniffe a spokeswoman from Cancer Care West said, “We are so grateful for the support received by everyone in Electric Skyline. This was a wonderful event and a fantastic achievement by the staff and management of Electric Skyline and we would like to thank each and every one of them, and also those who supported them in their efforts.”

Talking about where the funds will go Ms. Cunniffe commented, “Funds raised by this event will go towards helping meet the costs of residential and cancer support services at Cancer Care West, which are provided free of charge to cancer patients and their families. This event will also support our new Mayo Cancer Bus Service which brings cancer patients from Mayo to Galway every Monday and home again on Friday.  People in our community are affected by cancer every day, directly or indirectly through a loved one.  At Cancer Care West our vision is that no-one should have to go through a cancer experience alone, and everything we do has this vision in mind.”

Electric Skyline is aiming to stage another large scale charity fundraising event in 2021.
